What are YHVH’s appointed times?

Leviticus 23 describes appointed times set by YHVH for His people. These days create a yearly rhythm of remembrance, worship, repentance, thanksgiving and hope.

A biblical calendar

We seek to order our annual rhythm around the appointed times revealed in Scripture rather than treating later religious festivals as replacements for them.

The principal appointed times include Passover, Unleavened Bread, Firstfruits, Shavuot, Yom Teruah, Yom Kippur and Sukkot, alongside the weekly Shabbat.

Yeshua in the appointed times

The appointed times belong to the biblical story in which Yeshua lived, taught, died and rose. Passover, Unleavened Bread, Firstfruits and Shavuot are especially important for understanding the apostolic witness to Messiah.

They also point forward, reminding us that the story of redemption is moving toward the fullness of YHVH's Kingdom.

Learning together

Believers differ on some details of calendar calculation and observance. We do not make a particular calculation a test of fellowship.

Our aim is to honour YHVH's appointed times, search the Scriptures carefully and learn to celebrate them together as a believing community.
